• Built in 1671, the Soleil d’Orient is a french vesell of 1000 tons, and was owned by the French East India Company. It was one of the three most important and richest shipwrecks in the world.
• The vessel gave his name to the city of Lorient, having been the first buily on the shipyard constructed
• On 16 september 1681, Soleil d’Orient made his last trip with a preciousz consignment (There were 60 crates of gifts, including, gold, silver, porcelain, and hundreds of diamonds.) accompanied by three Siamese ambassadors and 20 valet. On October 1681, she arrived at the Isle Of France. and then she set sail once again but never to be heard from or see again.
