The Vasa, launched in Spring 1627, was built for King Gustavus II Adolphus of Sweden and was intended to be the flagship of the King of Sweden’s fleet with its 64 cannons.
\nThe Vasa had 3 masts, supported 10 sails and weighed nearly 1,200T.
\nDuring its maiden voyage on August 10, 1628, Vasa, victim of several gusts of wind, ended up sinking, taking with it nearly 50 crew members.
\nOn April 24, 1961, the Wasa was refloated and stored in a temporary building then in 1987, it was stored in Stockholm in the Vasa Museum.<\/p>\n
